Giraffe breaks car window while looking for food in safari park surprise

AS SAFARIS go, one couple had the surprise of their life after a giraffe smashed the window of their Vauxhall Corsa.
At West Midlands Safari Park, yesterday, the unnamed couple got more than they bargained for when the giraffe — which typically stands at up to 18 feet (5.5 metres) tall — decided to investigate the cabin of the car in the search for a tasty treat.
In parts of the drive-through experience, the zoo encourages visitors to open their vehicle windows half way, and hold out any snacks in the palm of their hand.

However, the woman in the passenger seat had left the window wide open, allowing the giraffe to take a closer peek for treats, and lean in to the passenger compartment of the Corsa car.
As she then winds the window to the half-open position, the giraffe pulled its head free and smashed the glass.
A spokeswoman from West Midlands Safari Park told The Sun: “As this incident is under investigation, we cannot currently comment.
“However, the giraffe was checked over immediately by staff and sustained no injuries from the glass.”
The people inside the Corsa were not harmed, but had plenty to tell friends and family about when asked whether they had a good break over Easter.
