Charred remains of Ford GT supercar up for auction
Will anyone be mad enough to actually buy it?
BIDDING is now open for a Ford GT that’s just come up for auction — though any prospective supercar collectors may want to avoid this one at all costs.
Listed by the salvaged car auctioneer Copart, this particular example of the 200mph+ supercar is about as far away from concours condition as you can possibly get.
The victim of a fire, all that remains of this once-sublime GT is a pile of ash and an assortment of warped components.

Unsurprisingly, considering the condition of the ex-car, no one appears to be interested in salvaging anything from this collection of corroded scrap. At time of writing, no bids have been placed.
Before being destroyed by fire, this previous-generation Ford GT would have been an example of one of the 21st century’s most iconic cars to date. A homage to the Le Mans-winning Ford GT40 racing car, when new it had the performance to go up against Ferraris and Lamborghinis, with a 550bhp 5.4-litre V8 engine capable of propelling it to 60mph from rest in just 3.4 seconds, and onto a top speed of 205mph.
Ford GT values have also risen noticeably in recent years. For example, an example formerly owned by our own Jeremy Clarkson is being offered by Ford GT specialists GT101 for £265,000 — more than double what Jezza originally paid for the car in 2005. Let’s hope they’ve fixed the immobiliser.
