Music fan couldn't play Example's new album in car, so rapper stepped in
Bold solution to a simple problem
MUSICIAN Example has kept his promise to buy one of his fans a car – all so they could listen to his new album.
Earlier this June, Twitter user @jordanniner_ asked the rapper whether his upcoming release, Bangers & Ballads, would be available on CD because, “I need some new bangers from you while I’m driving.”
Example quickly responded: “Probably not. It’s 2018.”
The British star, who is signed to Epic Records and Sony Music, could be forgiven for his initial dispassionate response. CD sales have been in decline for years and last year, streaming music revenues surpassed income from the sale of traditional formats like CDs for the first time.
All of which is of no comfort to Jordan, who forlornly replied: “And my car is from 2001 and doesn’t have an aux [cable].”
An aux input on his stereo would allow streaming via a mobile phone, for example. But Example’s solution to the problem wasn’t to advise a trip to his local Halfords; instead he bought the fan a car.
This is Jordan. He didn’t have an aux or Bluetooth in his car. My new mixtape is out next month and won’t be on Cd. Streaming only. I could’ve bought him a new stereo but I bought him a new car instead. Why not ay 🤷🏻♂️ https://t.co/DXlnQYV0BJ

Jordan posted a photo on Twitter on Thursday of himself sitting on the bonnet of a shiny new (well, pre-2011 second generation) Ford Focus — presumably with a stereo capable of receiving music streams.
He wrote: “So here we are, as promised, the car that Example has bought me! Thank you so much for buying it for me, cannot wait to blast Bangers.”
Example — real name Elliot John Gleave — has produced six studio albums, the third of which, 2011’s Playing in the Shadows, reached number one in the UK album charts. The album also had two number one singles.
