Customers of £2.5m Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar can specify a track pack ... via virtual reality
Will make lap time 8% quicker, Aston claims
IN CASE the Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar is not quite fast enough for its customers, buyers now have the option to fit a track-only package of components that the British car maker says will reduce lap times by a further 8%. And customers can see what it looks like in a virtual reality simulation.
That the standard car will be road legal is extraordinary enough. At its heart is a 6.5-litre Cosworth V12 engine that produces 1,000bhp, with hybrid tech help lift the total power output to around 1,130bhp. Aston describes the V12 as being “torque-enhanced during take-off”, with the electric motor also available for power boosts.
Its body is honed for ideal aerodynamics, while the structure uses zero steel, instead relying on ultra-lightweight but super-rigid carbon fibre to achieve a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio.
So what does the AMR Track Performance Pack add? Lightness, downforce, honed suspension and extra stopping power, essentially.
A new aerodynamic front clam (the entire front section of bodywork) delivers greater downforce and efficiency, while lightweight titanium brakes and a carbon-fibre aero-disk set will help provide brutal braking performance. The “track-focused suspension” features revised dampers, torsion bars, anti-roll bars. Matte black magnesium performance wheels finish off the mechanical enhancements.
All of this is interchangeable with the standard kit, and switching it all back is essential before taking the car on the road (how many owners will be doing that, we wonder).
Customers also get a second set of exterior body panels and are able to add a suite of personalised pit garage and race suit accessory options to the package, “providing owners with the ultimate track day and hypercar ownership experience,” Aston says.
Those buying the Valkyrie have a range of colours, trim styles and options to pick via the bespoke ‘Q by Aston Martin’ service, and the coolest way to see how each looks on the finished product: via virtual reality, as shown in the video above. (Can’t see the video? Click here)
Choosing the AMR Track Performance Pack opens up three new AMR livery designs or a unique finish, which can be selected using ‘Q by Aston Martin – Commission’, which is like a VIP service within a VIP service.
We suspect most people would be happy to own a Valkyrie in any spec, mind you.
