Geneva show: Vauxhall adds new 137mph Adam S to family
You really want to see it…
THE ADAM family continues to grow with this, the Adam S; a fire-breathing hot hatch with a top speed of 137mph.
Key to its nifty performance is a turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol engine producing 148bhp and 162 lb ft of torque; a handy 50% and 70% increase on the naturally aspirated version of the same engine.
Fast Vauxhalls have, in the past, been criticised for their below-par chassis, but Vauxhall is taking no chances with its latest screamer. It claims the Adam S has a specially tuned performance chassis and direct, sharp performance steering to match. It also has larger VXR performance brakes all-round, and 18in alloy wheels.
So that the Adam S cannot be mistaken for a milder, personalised model, it has unique red paint and an anthracite grey roof, complete with a sporty body kit.
Being an Adam, it also has a toe-curling pet name ‒ Red ’n Roll ‒ to describe its interior trim package featuring leather upholstery, distinctive red and white flashes, and Apple iPhone integration.
