GT Sport vehicle list by category

LOOKING FOR a list of cars in GT Sport, broken down by category? We couldn’t find one, so we took the official list of 163 cars by brand and transposed it into vehicles by class, with explanations of each group.

This list was correct at time of publishing.

Road cars

Road cars are grouped in a category labelled “N” and are further divided into sub-classes based on power output. In theory, N 100 cars are up to 100hp, N200 are up to 200hp and so on, but the anoraks among you will see that this is a loose rule only; the BMW M4 is in the N400 class but has over 400hp, for example.

GT Sport can even out the competition with a balance of performance tweak for online racing, meaning those cars with power and/or weight advantages are detuned and/or carry ballast, while those at a disadvantage get a boost in these areas.

Racing car classes

The racing cars roughly follow real-world GT4, GT3 and LMP endurance categories. Group 4 vehicles are essentially road cars with modest racing upgrades such as a stripped out interior for weight reduction, and roll cages for safety.

The developers consider the main stars of the game to be the next class up, Group 3, which are heavily modified track-only racers based on the real GT3 endurance class with a weight limit and strong downforce effect and rear-wheel drive. Group 3 includes models that don’t exist as GT3 racing cars in the real world, such as the Mazda 6 and Jaguar F-type, as well as some concept vehicles such as the Peugeot Vision Gran Turismo (Gr.3).

Group 1 cars are what we know as Le Mans prototypes, and are built ground-up for racing. It includes real racers such as the Audi R18, Toyota TS030 and Peugeot 908, as well as concept cars such as the Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo.

Rally cars

The legendary Group B rally cars of the 1980s are brought back for the modern era in GT Sport. All are four-wheels drive and exceed 500hp, including versions of the Ford Focus, Subaru WRX and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.
