New York show: Mercedes releases teaser video of new AMG GT supercar
Mercedes has released a video for its new AMG GT supercar, the successor to the SLS.
THIS IS what you get when… you want to tease people’s interest in your new, top-of-the-range sports car, and it’s still many months away from showrooms.
Mercedes has released a video for its new AMG GT supercar, the successor to the SLS. Called This is what you get when…, the new film raises drivers’ pulses with glimpses of the new model, due out in November, and the proud boast that it “combines the absolute best” of all that Mercedes and AMG have done.
The new film aside, all that supercar enthusiasts have been able to drool over so far is the GT’s cabin, revealed at this year’s New York motor show. Described by Mercedes as “modern luxury” it’s a more sumptuous and stylish take on the interiors to be found in the new CLA and C-class.
The Mercedes-AMG GT, which will be powered by a 4-litre V8 rumoured to develop over 500bhp, marks the first time Mercedes’ high-performance road car division has been granted equal billing with its parent company. Surprisingly, even the hallowed “Benz” name has had to give way to the new supercar’s moniker.
Perhaps it’s what you get when you’re trying to separate your new sports car from more humbler fare lower down the ranges.
