News: Seat unveils all-road Leon ST X-perience estate
Seat has now unveiled a new Leon that will go where no Golf will: off-road.
NOT CONTENT with producing a faster alternative to the VW Golf GTI in the shape of the Leon Cupra 280, sister company Seat has unveiled a new Leon that will go where no Golf will: off-road.

Though not raised off the ground like a true 4×4, the Leon ST X-perience estate is high enough from it (15mm higher than the standard Leon ST) to tackle most rutted tracks. To make sure it doesn’t get embarrassingly bogged down, it has all-road suspension and permanent all-wheel drive which splits drive to the rear wheels when the going gets rough.
Power is provided by a choice of two, torquey diesel engines. The 2-litre oil burners come in two states of tune: 148bhp and 179bhp; the latter good for 0-62mph in 7.1 seconds.
The new Leon is protected from the slings and arrows of off-road fortune thanks to robust body mouldings on the door sills and wheel arches. Generous air intakes and aluminium-look inserts complete the effect.
Inside, X-perience logos abound while, according to Seat, orange stitching “accentuates the car’s adventurous spirit.”
The model goes on sale in September, when prices will be announced.
