News: Sink hole swallows VW Lupo after heavy rain
A VW LUPO has been swallowed by a giant sink hole that opened up on the driveway of a family home on Sunday morning.
The blue car, which was empty when the ground gave way, is lying at the bottom of the 30ft hole in Walter’s Ash, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire where it is partially covered with rubble and sediment. The recent wet weather is believed to have eroded and loosened the earth used to fill in the old clay, stone and chalk pits in the area, causing the sink hole to form.
The family living at the house were woken to be told their car had fallen down the hole, and there are now concerns that their house might join it. Firefighters who attended the scene have placed a cordon around the hole and issued safety advice to local residents.
