Top Gear presenter Chris Harris crashes £111,000 Porsche in Wales
"Speed wasn't a factor"
TOP Gear host Chris Harris has been involved in a car crash, while driving with a Top Gear executive in Wales.
The presenter’s Porsche 911 GT3 Touring sports car hit the side of a pick-up truck as it was doing a three-point turn, according to the BBC.
In a statement, the broadcaster confirmed Harris, his passenger and the pick-up driver were unhurt in the smash.
The £111,000 Porsche 911 GT3 is a hardcore version of the iconic sports car, with the optional Touring spec of Harris’ car removing the front spoiler and rear wing from the bodywork at no additional cost. Though marginally slower than the standard car, the 911 GT3 Touring is still a very quick machine, with Porsche claiming the 493bhp machine can complete the 0-62mph run in 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 196mph.
In a post on social media, Chris Harris said the collision was “unavoidable” and “just one of those things”. Harris also claimed speed wasn’t a factor in the crash, and he “wasn’t the one issued a penalty notice” by police for the incident.

The BBC said Harris wasn’t in Wales as part of filming duties for the upcoming series of Top Gear on TV. Instead, he was driving the Porsche for a feature that will be published in Top Gear Magazine.
Series 26 of Top Gear is expected to air in early 2019 and will be the last to feature the Chris Harris, Matt LeBlanc and Rory Reid presenting trio. Though Harris is being retained, LeBlanc has quit the show and will be replaced by comedian Paddy McGuinness and ex-cricketer Freddie Flintoff, with Reid moving to host the Extra Gear spin-off show.
