Pick-up drag race: Ford Ranger vs Mercedes X-Class vs Mitsubishi L200 vs Toyota Hilux vs VW Amarok
Which truck is the king of the drag strip?
THEY MAY not be the last word in speed but pick-up trucks are ideal vehicles into which a potent, torque-rich engine can be stuffed.
With big cargo capacities in their rear load bays, pick-ups need plenty of torque when hauling their wares. Having plenty of grunt to call upon makes them ideal towing vehicles, too.

The line-up assembled by carwow’s Mat Watson comprises the Ford Ranger, Mercedes X-Class, Mitsubishi L200, Toyota Hilux and VW Amarok. Which one came out on top for acceleration? And which has the best stopping power? Watch the video at the top of the page to find out.
