Watch this sinkhole swallow a car in Colorado
Crews are checking the road to make sure it's safe
A COLORADAN motorist had quite the eventful car journey recently, after the driver’s vehicle was suddenly swallowed up by a sinkhole on a major dual carriageway.
Triggered by the considerable amount of rainfall that has affected the region of late, the sinkhole ended up engulfing a Toyota SUV, with reports claiming the car ended up submerged in some 15ft of water.
Amazingly, there weren’t any casualties, as the driver was able to escape from the car before it fell into the cavity on the West Oxford Avenue road that runs through the city of Sheridan.
In response to the incident, the Sheridan Police force closed the road so that they could properly assess its condition.
West Oxford Ave is now closed in both directions from South Santa Fe Dr to South Clay St. Alternative routes are advised. Unknown when it will reopen. Crews are checking the condition of the entire roadway.
