Train smashes into SUV that jumped level crossing barriers

A MOTORIST in Florida was rushed to hospital after their SUV was struck by a double-decker train at a level crossing.

Harrowing CCTV footage released by the Orlando Police Department shows the driver’s 4×4 passing under the lowering level crossing barriers and pausing briefly before driving forward and into the path of the train. The smashed car is then push off-screen as if it weighed nothing.

The driver survived the shunt, according to local reports, though they were rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

The Orlando Police Department is using the footage to highlight the dangers of jumping level crossings, and is urging drivers to obey traffic laws at all times.
